2008 GBIS Technical Conference Announced

The 2008 GBIS Technical Conference starts off with a Pre Conference Leadership Summit on September 25th. On Friday, Sept. 26th the day begins with Keynote Speaker A.B. Short of MedShare International and continues with  Seminar courses and exhibits geared specifically to the biomedical community. The evening includes the Annual Awards Dinner with a presentation of the Biomed of The Year Award. There is also plenty of time for networking. GBIS Biomed of The Year

The presentation of the Award for 2008 GBIS Biomed of The Year will be presented at the Awards Dinner on September 26th.  The Award is sponsored by Harvest Data Systems (www.harvestdatasystems.com) A big THANK YOU to Harvest for their support of GBIS. The GBIS Biomed of the Year Committee was headed by Chairperson Dianne O'Rear (dianneorear@yahoo.com) and GBIS President, Christa Shiver (cshiver@archbold.org) who was the recipient of the Award last year.

 

Dr. Mike O'Rear Humanitarian Travels

Dr. Mike O’Rear, GBIS Board Member, and Mr. Eben Armstrong of MedShare have just returned from a Humanitarian trip to three countries in West Africa, Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. They checked on equipment that has been donated to hospitals. They also conducted training on Biomedical Instrumentation. Med Share, International and GBIS in partnership with Chattahoochee Technical College plan to provide training for the Biomedical Engineering Technicians in Africa and South America. The hospitals are in need of medical equipment and test equipment to maintain the donated equipment. More information will be forth coming as plans to deliver Biomedical Training to third world countries.
